Pete the Cat Feet Painting Activity

October 7, 2014 by Meredith @ Homegrown Friends

We are big Pete the Cat fans! After the success of our Pete the Cat Scavenger Hunt I thought it would be fun to explore another Pete the Cat book. We teamed up with the rest of the creative Preschool Book Club Team to create activities for Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes. We explored the book with a fun Pete the Cat Feet Painting Activity!

FUN WITH THE PETE THE CAT FEET PAINTING ACTIVITY!

Prior to introducing the activity set up a long piece of white butcher paper. Because we were doing this activity outside I weighted the paper with a couple of bricks to keep it from blowing away. Next I set up four stations based on the book. Red paint for the strawberries. Blue paint for the blueberries. Brown paint (we mixed it ourselves!) for the mud. And finishing with a container of warm water just like the book.

Space the containers of paint and water evenly on the paper in the same order Pete approaches them in the book- red, blue, brown and water.

Next give each child the chance to walk through the containers and get messy just like Pete! Please be careful when walking. It can be slippery to walk in paint so make sure to remind the children to walk slowly. Some children may need you to hold their hands as they walk on the paper.

We have done feet painting before, but the addition of a water container was new. My children loved the feel of the warm water on their feet and getting to take a little foot bath before running back to the front to start again.

Of course the kids had so much fun with the Pete the Cat Feet Painting Activity that they played again and again!
