Salt Dough Heart Gifts

February 3, 2013 by Meredith @ Homegrown Friends

I’ve never been a huge Valentine’s Day person, but once I became a teacher and a mom Valentine’s Day became one more day to be creative. As a parent one of my main goals is to teach my children how to care for and give back to others. In the days leading up to Valentine’s Day Quinn and I are focusing on “Just Because” gifts. Little kids love to give small treasures to each other. We decided to make Salt Dough Heart Gifts for Quinn’s preschool friends. Quinn and I whipped up a batch of salt dough. The same dough we used for our salt dough ornaments.

HOW TO MAKE SALT DOUGH HEART GIFTS

Mix together the three ingredients. Roll out on a floured surface. Cut heart shapes.

I loved watching Quinn pick up each heart and think about his classmates as individuals. “Mama, this one is for Cale. I’m going to make it blue because Cale really likes blue.” “Emmy’s will be all red because that’s the real heart color.”
