Quick Easy Packable Kid Snacks

May 3, 2016 by Meredith @ Homegrown Friends

Hungry, cranky kids in public with no food is a tough spot to be in. I’ve made that rookie mistake far too many times and succumbed to the less-than-healthy vending machine or check-out aisle choices. I’m sure I’m not the only one.  Over the years I’ve learned what snacks travel best and some easy recipes to fill those little bellies up.  These quick, easy packable kid snacks are sure to make everyone in your family smile.  Quick Easy Packable Kid Snacks

Whether we are heading to a museum or going for a bike ride to our favorite park I have a few go-to favorite snacks.  Delicious food doesn’t have to take a lot of time to create and pack.  I love using those plastic storage containers with the dividers and easy snap on lids.  This allows me to pack a few options in one container that feeds all three of my kids.  We always include our reusable water bottles, but a fun drink can make a trip extra special.  Capri Sun Organic is delicious and contains no artificial colors, preservatives and flavors.  Music to this mama’s ears! Some of our favorite snacks include our homemade nut bars, fresh fruit like strawberries and tri-color carrots.  Tip: a variety of colors is always fun for kids! The nut bars are so easy to make.  Simply place 1 cup sunflowers seeds, 4 tablespoons coconut oil, 1/2 cup flaxmeal, 1/2 cup raisins, 12 dates, 3/4 cup shredded coconut and a handful of dark chocolate chips into a food processor.  Once blended put the mixture into a loaf pan and pop in the freezer for 10 minutes.  Then cut into small bars.

After biking to the park, swinging and running around my kids were delighted to break for a fun snack.

I wish I had videoed their reaction to my fun juice drink surprise.  Seriously, they flipped that there were juice drinks that I was actually allowing them to have.  We tried the fruit punch and grape variety and both were crowd favorites.

My kids are already planning to have Capri Sun Organic at their next birthday party.  Love that I could immediately say yes to a kid-approved fun juice drink that has no added sugar and sweetened only with fruit juice.  Everyone is a winner!
