HOW TO MAKE THE NAME SCRAMBLE LITERACY ACTIVITY

TIME TO PLAY THE NAME RECOGNITION LITERACY ACTIVITY!

Introduce this activity by showing your child(ren) the star person’s name. Say the name and then point to each letter stating the letters of the name. Count the letters in the name. If your children are four and up you can have them clap the number of syllables in the name. Next have your children make observations about the name. For example, Charlotte said “My name has a C”. Quinn said “There is an L in the middle.”

After your children make their observations place the name on the rug and introduce the cut up letters.

“Oh no, the letters of Charlotte’s name are all mixed up! Who can help me put them in the right order?” Using the paper with the full name as a helping tool your children can put the name letters in the correct order. This activity is a wonderful game to help support name and letter recognition and one to one correspondence.
