When planning a party I always think about the color scheme, followed my a fun activity and food, of course! The colors for a Minions Movie Party were easy. It is all about those little guys with lots of blue and yellow.
DECOR/CRAFT
Because the main event would be watching the Minions © 2015 Universal Studios. All rights reserved. I decided to combine a fun craft that would then become a cute decoration for our party. Using the paper doll chain idea we created a minions paper chain garland that my kids could decorate.
HOW TO MAKE THE MINIONS PAPER CHAIN GARLAND
Begin with white paper, scissors, crayons and markers. (1) Fold paper accordion-style into four sections. (2) Using a pencil draw half of each minion holding hands in the middle like seen in picture #2. (3) Cut along the pencil outline. (4) Have fun decorating your little minions. We used crayons to do the basic yellow and blue and then permanent marker to add the signature minion goggles and smiles. Continue to make as many as you want taping them together.
THE SNACKS
I don’t know about you, but we never have family movie night without big bowls of our favorite stove top popcorn. This time I decided to make it extra special for the kids by creating their very own minions popcorn bag. This was so easy and the kids flipped for how cool they looked!
MINIONS POPCORN BAGS
For the bags you will need brown paper bags, blue, yellow, white and black construction paper
and markers
.
Begin by cutting out a yellow shape for the minions body and glue it to the front of the bag. Next use the blue construction paper to cut out those signature overalls. Glue on top of the yellow. Cut our circle eyes (the number depends on which minion you are creating) and then glue on to the yellow. Black strips are added to the eyes to create the goggles. Using a marker
I added the details of the eyes and smile. That’s it!
NOW FOR THE BEST STOVETOP POPCORN EVER!
What you need:
1/2 popcorn kernels, 3 Tablespoons olive oil (we used the Simply Balanced Olive Oil from Target), salt and a large pot with lid
.
How to make the best stovetop popcorn ever:
Begin by adding 3 tablespoons of olive oil to a large pot and put heat on medium high. Add four kernels of popcorn to the pot and put the lid on. Wait until all 4 kernels pop then add 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels
to the pot, cover and remove from heat for 30 seconds. Place back on the heat let the popping begin! Place the lid slightly off the pot so that some of the steam can come out and shake the pot back and forth to insure even cooking. When the popping slows down to only a few pops per second pour the popcorn into a bowl and sprinkle with salt. Scoop the popcorn into the minions bags and you are ready!
With our decorations and popcorn bags prepared we were ready for a fun movie night! Did you know we were able to find all our Minions Movie Party Ideas right at Target? My kids thought the design of the Illumination Entertainment’s Minions Metalpak Blu-ray/DVD – Deluxe was the coolest and it is only available at Target (bonus: it comes with 3 mini movies and 40 extra additional minutes of content).
The Minions was released on December 8th so head on over to Target, pick up the movie and a few Minions toys and clothes and you have the perfect gift package for your favorite Minions fan.
Now time to settle in for some laughs and fun!
We finished off our Minions Movie Party with a minion shaped pizza. We used our favorite homemade pizza recipe and added olives to create the goggles and green peppers to create the clothes. The kids loved it! Okay, I did too.
Have fun with your own Minions Movie Party Ideas! You can find more super cool party ideas here.
