I’m always looking for ways to teach my children to focus on the good and live each day grateful for all we have. We love our Happy Thoughts Journals and Happy Thoughts Relaxation Jars. We had some extra time before soccer camp this morning so I put out a tray of beads and string to make necklaces. My daughters and I had so much fun creating Happy Thoughts Necklaces.

HOW TO MAKE THE HAPPY THOUGHTS NECKLACES
Prior to beginning set up a variety of beads and the elastic cord. I use a chip tray to store our beads. We each picked a bead to tie on the end of the elastic cord so that the beads wouldn’t slip off.
Next we all sat down together and looked through the beads focusing on what makes us happy. This was such a peaceful experience and reminded me of how women use to work on quilts together telling stories as they created works of art. (Side note: does anyone still do that? I would love to!) I loved that as we strung the beads we each shared the meaning behind every single bead stringing not only beautiful necklaces, but a string of joy.
Once we decided we were finished I tied off the necklaces and they were ready to wear. I loved watching my daughters put on the necklaces with huge smiles on their faces. They kept wanting to hear the meanings behind each bead. What a wonderful way to create and share our happy thoughts. Today another one was created.
