Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch might have had a heart that was two sizes too small, but these Grinch’s Heart Cookies are anything but tiny. After reading the book How the Grinch Stole Christmas or watching the fantastic movie make these delicious cookies.

- ⅔ C butter, softened
- ¾ C sugar
- 1 t baking powder
- ¼ t salt
- 1 egg
- 1 T milk
- 1 t vanilla
- 2 C flour
- Buttercream Frosting
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 1 C powdered sugar
- green food coloring (I used Seelect Natural Food Coloring in Honeydew Melon)
- red food coloring (I used Seelect Natural Food Coloring in Red Cherry)
- Beat butter on medium to high for 30 seconds.
- Add sugar, baking powder and salt.
- Beat until combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally.
- Beat in egg, milk and vanilla until combined.
- Beat in flour.
- Chill for 15-30 minutes or until easy to handle.
- Buttercream Frosting
- Beat together the butter and powdered sugar.
- Divide frosting in half and add green to one half and red to the other.
- Roll out dough on a floured surface or parchment paper. Cut out equal amount of hearts and circles.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes or until very lightly golden.
- Once cool spread green frosting on the circles and red/pink frosting on the hearts.
- Place the frosted hearts on top of the frosted circles.

2/3 C butter, softened
3/4 C sugar

green food coloring (We use these all natural food dyes like these)
red food coloring (We use these all natural food dyes like these)

sugar cookie dough
buttercream frosting
food coloring
rolling pin
heart cookie cutter
large circle cookie cutter (I used a martini glass. Circle should be larger than the heart),
cookie tray
parchment paper
HOW TO MAKE THE GRINCH’S HEART COOKIES
Beat butter on medium to high for 30 seconds. Add sugar, baking powder and salt. Beat until combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally. Beat in egg, milk and vanilla until combined. Beat in flour. Chill for 15-30 minutes or until easy to handle.
Make the buttercream frosting. Beat together the butter and powdered sugar. Divide frosting in half and add green to one half and red to the other.
