Something has weighed on me this year. Last year I did a sponsored post focused on Halloween candy. It was cute, and I thought nothing of it until I read an article linking many chocolate companies to child labor. I had no idea. And I can’t believe I had no idea because I pride myself in purchasing from companies who treat their employees well. Part of how we educate our children is to be mindful that our daily purchases have a direct effect on other people we may never meet. I apologized to by children and shared with them that many of the chocolates we bought in the past were made by companies who were forcing children just like them to work incredibly long hours in unfair conditions. As my children quickly realized no chocolate bar is worth eating if it means a child was abused to make it. This post is my apology to all of you. This post is my attempt to make it right by sharing with you a list of Ethical Fair Trade Halloween Candy.
