I have one dream every morning. It’s a dream I’m sure a lot of you reading have. One hot cup of tea before the requests start piling in from my kids. Lately my three kids seem to be channelling Brad Pitt in Fight Club. While I was waiting for someone to wave the white flag (wishful thinking) the most glorious thing happened. A package arrived at my door with Jeanette Nyberg’s new book inside. Jeanette is the creative mind behind the blog Craftwhack. Her new book Tangle Art & Drawing Games for Kids
contains so many easy drawing prompts for kids. Best part? I am using her ideas as morning invitations to play which is making my dream come true. Hot tea in the morning.

WHAT YOU NEED FOR THE EASY DRAWING PROMPTS FOR KIDS
It was hard to choose which activity from Tangle Art & Drawing Games for Kids to begin with. I decided the Catalog Model Drawings would be a fun one to wake up to. For this activity we used:
a long piece of paper- highly recommend purchasing a white butcher roll to have handy for projects like this.
old magazines
markers or colored pencils- we like these ones
glue stick
HOW TO MAKE THE CATALOG MODEL DRAWINGS
Because I was using this activity as a drawing prompt I decided to create the first part of the activity by myself. I began by cutting out partial bodies from magazines and gluing them onto a long piece of paper. I placed it on our living room coffee table with our favorite twistable colored pencils.
My kids loved waking up to this invitation to draw! What is this? They were so curious! I told them their job was to add all the body parts that were missing and they could make it look realistic or completely silly. They opted for silly.
My kids all worked together for an hour creating all these crazy creatures.
They even wanted me to add word bubbles to their creations. So much fun!
Tangle Art and Drawing Games for Kids is filled with so many great drawing prompt ideas. I have my eye on the Kaleidoscope Circles, Fingerprint Self-Portraits, Frame Collaborations and so many more!

Pair this book with a cool pack of gel pens and you will have some happy kids. My children loved trying out all the fun drawing ideas and learned some new techniques along the way.
