DIY Grimms Inspired Wooden Toys

July 19, 2019 by Meredith @ Homegrown Friends

I adore the incredible wooden toys from Grimms. Seriously, I could swoon over the site for hours, but like many of you the price keeps me from ordering. Today I am sharing how to make my DIY Grimms Inspired Wooden Toys. Get ready, these are so easy to make and do not require any expensive materials.

HOW TO MAKE THE DIY GRIMMS INSPIRED WOODEN TOYS

This project is so easy! I was inspired by watching my daughter color wooden beads with our favorite OOLY markers. The colors were so bold and gorgeous. When Woodpeckers Crafts contacted me asking if I was interested in trying out their wood products I knew exactly what I was going to do. The high quality wooden parts and my favorite markers were the perfect combination for the DIY Grimms Inspired Wooden Toys that I was eager to create. All you do is color on the wood. That’s it! No need for any messy paints.

After coloring the blocks you will want to seal them. Look for a taste safe beeswax so that the wooden toys are safe for little hands (and yes mouths). I used this beeswax. All you have to do is rub small amounts into the wooden toys and then rub off the excess with a towel. Pretty awesome, right?

Okay, one more photo because these are just too gorgeous not to post one more!

I love these! I’ve struggled with the price of Grimm, but what I really love about yours (and the ones I will make) is the use of different skin tones! Thank you for the work you do and for sharing it! You are inspiring!

Thank you! Making the various skin tones was a must for me and definitely something lacking in the store bought versions.
