Serves: 1 cup butter
- 2 cups heavy cream
- ¼ teaspoon salt (optional)
- COOKING TOOLS
- measuring cup- 1 cup
- ¼ teaspoon
- electric mixer (I love our KitchenAid Mixer)
- -or-
- food processor
- Using the whipping attachment, whip 2 cups of heavy cream in the electric mixer (or use the blade attachment in the food processor).
- Tip: if using an electric mixer put a towel over the top to avoid splashes.
- After a minute or two in the mixer you will have yummy whipped cream.
- Keep the mixer whipping on high and you will have homemade butter within about 5-8 more minutes.
- The butter will separate leaving a liquid. Don't throw this liquid out! This is buttermilk.
- Drain the buttermilk into a jar and then whip the butter with ¼ teaspoon salt to combine.
- Your butter is now ready to use just as you would use your favorite store bought butter.
