Top 5 Essential Items for Breastfeeding

April 3, 2014 by Meredith @ Homegrown Friends

I loved breastfeeding my three children.  I am grateful for the experience, the relationship I gained with my children and the support I received along the way.  Here are my  Top 5 Essential Items for Breastfeeding.

Here is a great list of the top 5 essential items for breastfeeding

Bravado Nursing Bras
These are my absolute favorite nursing bras.  Comfort and ease are key when breastfeeding and Bravado Nursing Bras are perfect!

Gap Pure Body Tank

Gap Pure Body Tanks
I never bothered with real nursing clothes or nursing covers.  My wardrobe for the 2.5 years I breastfed my twin daughters was a Bravado Nursing Bra, a Gap Body Tank Top and then some kind of shirt on top depending on the weather.  Here is the best part of this method.  You can simply pull up your top shirt, pull down the tank and easily unclip your nursing bra to breastfed discreetly without the need for anything else.  Does a little skin show?  Of course, you are breastfeeding after all, but in my opinion if someone wants to see my nursing boob that badly, more power to them!  Because these tanks are not technically for nursing they are a perfect addition to your wardrobe after nursing too!
My Brest Friend Pillow
This pillow is fantastic for breastfeeding.  It really helps in the early stages of breastfeeding when you and your little one are getting use to proper positions.  I also loved this pillow when I needed to breastfeed an infant and play with a rambunctious toddler.
Camelbak Water Bottle
One of the parts of breastfeeding that surprised me was how thirsty I was.  Staying hydrated is so important when nursing.  I always kept a large water bottle close by.  I love the Camelback Water Bottles.  They are BPA free and truly indestructible.
The Breastfeeding Book  Dr. Sears
While I believe the most important way to have a successful breastfeeding experience is to surround yourself with a supportive pro-breastfeeding network of people, a good breastfeeding book is also helpful for those little questions that will inevitably pop up.  I love the whole Sears collection.  The Breastfeeding Book is one of my favorites!
