I love sharing our favorite toys, art supplies and children’s books on our Facebook page each day. I was asked if I could put all of the favorites I recommend in one place so that they are easy to reference. I’m starting with a fun one. Our Favorite Art Themed Gifts for Children.

FAVORITE ART SUPPLIES
Oil Pastels
Hands down, oil pastels are one of the best bang-for-your-buck art supplies. They come in a large array of colors and are perfect to use on their own or try them out with watercolor paints.
Liquid Watercolors
If you can splurge on one amazing art supply this is the one to get! Liquid watercolors create gorgeous, vibrant colors! We love painting with them as well as using them in our playdough and slime. Pair the liquid watercolors with some special watercolor paper and watercolor paint brushes and you have the perfect gift for your little artist.
Acrylic Paints
While we love using our basic tempera paints to explore color mixing and painting it’s always a little more special when we bring out our acrylic paints. These work well on canvas or paper and we love using them on salt dough too.
Air Dry Clay
If there is one art supply that I believe is underused it is plain old gray clay. When stored properly clay can last years or you can let it air dry and paint it to create bowls, sculptures, beads and so much more. All you need is the clay and your hands to create unique works of art.
FAVORITE ART THEMED CHILDREN’S BOOKS
Your little artist will love exploring some of our favorite art books.
Creatrilogy Box Set (The Dot, Ish, Sky Color)
I couldn’t choose just one of Peter Reynolds’ books and thankfully you don’t have to. Pick up the amazing trio of books, The Dot, Ish and Sky Color, that celebrate the artist in all of us.
I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More!
I love a book that celebrates glorious mess! Through rhyme I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More! will resonate with many children how fun messy art can be.
Beautiful Oops!
If you have a child who gets frustrated when creating art or needs his work to look “perfect” this is the book to purchase! Beautiful Oops! sees and celebrates the mistakes in our lives that make things beautiful.
Mix It Up!
Mix It Up! is a fun, interactive book that brings the story to life by encouraging children to be part of the story. We loved this story so much our Preschool Book Club created fun themed activities.
FAVORITE ART THEMED GAMES
Pictionary Jr
Pictionary Jr is a fun way for little artists to work together solving picture clues. We love this game!
Press Here Game
Hervé Tullet brings his book Press Here to life with this fun game that combines logic and art with 25 gorgeous game boards.
Use this list as a starting point for creating fun gift packages for kids. Little artists would delight in a gift basket filled with the Creatrilogy Box Set , liquid watercolors and watercolor paper. What would you pair together?
