After a harsh winter there was no better vision than our gorgeous blooming flowers and plants. Oh the purples, pinks and greens- the best! As we move into Summer and our Spring flowers start to wilt I thought it would be fun to preserve some of our yard favorites. I am in love with our Homemade Pressed Flower Votive.

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THE HOMEMADE PRESSED FLOWER VOTIVE
Glad Press’n Seal (You can pick it up right at Walmart)
fresh flowers and leaves (we used ones from our yard, but you could also purchase flowers)
clear packaging tape
scissors
HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE PRESSED FLOWER VOTIVE
In order to make these gorgeous homemade pressed flower votives you need to gather some beautiful flowers and leaves. After looking around my yard I settled on the beautiful pink rhododendron petals that were beginning to fall off our bushes and the clovers that are throughout our lawn. Begin by cutting strips of the Glad Press’n Seal into 4 inch by 8 inch strips. You will need five strips per votive. I love Glad Press’n Seal for projects like this more than contact paper because it is so much more forgiving. If you happen to fold a corner over or place a flower where you don’t want it, no worries, just peel it back and start again.
Take one strip and add your flowers and leaves to half of the strip. I kept a ruler handy to make sure I was only adding them to half.
Once you have the design you want fold the Glad Press’n Seal in half so that the flowers are now covered. Press your hand over the square to seal it. See what I did there?
Repeat these steps with the rest of the strips.
Using the clear packaging tape attach four of the squares creating a row. Then attached the fifth square to the bottom of the third square.
Fold the bottom square and farthest square to the right up and connect the corners with tape. Fold the second square up and connect the sides with tape. Fold the last square over and connect the remaining sides with tape so that a box is formed.
Our Homemade Pressed Flower Votive looks gorgeous with the natural sunlight shining through, but the real magic happens when we put a battery operated tea light in it and enjoy the glow as the sun sets. So beautiful!
I am just completely in love with our new votives. My children are too! I made the first one on my own, but as soon as my children saw it they said “Oh Mama, what are those? Can we make them too?” Of course! Easy supplies and so much fun!
