Oh my goodness. This book. I am in love with the book I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More! . I was so excited that Preschool Book Club was exploring this book through play that I actually made our I Ain’t Gonna No More Cardboard Dollhouse 2 months ago. We had so much fun! I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More! by Karen Beaumont tells the story of a young child who fully embraces the paining experience. When his mama has had enough of the mess she puts away the paints, but the child can’t stay away from the fun of painting. Each page has a fun rhyme that includes a new painted body part. I can’t get enough of this book!

Cardboard boxes (I attached two cardboard boxes and cut off parts of boxes to make a roof and room dividers)

HOW TO MAKE THE I AIN’T GONNA PAINT NO MORE! CARDBOARD DOLLHOUSE

Begin by reading the book I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More!. My kids adore this book and of course, the page where the child’s butt is showing sends them into full belly laughing. We decided to pretend we could jump right into the book and created a dollhouse imagining what the house would look like after a crazy painting session.

We began by creating the dollhouse out of cardboard. We simply cut the top flaps off of two cardboard boxes and taped one on top of the other. Then we used some of the flaps to create room dividers and a roof. Super easy!

Now the real fun begins! I put out a variety of our favorite acrylic paints into these painting palettes.

I kept the book near by as a reference tool, but the kids didn’t need a push to paint the silliest, “funnest” house ever!

I was amazed how long my children worked on the I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More Cardboard Dollhouse. They were determined to cover the whole dollhouse including the ceilings with paint.

The kids were loving this project so much that I thought it would be fun to use some of our wooden peg people from our block building area and cover them in paint so they looked like the little child at the end of the book.

Once dry our kids loved using the people to play in their dollhouse. Originally they had the idea to create furniture out of cardboard and then paint it fun colors, but the kids were so eager to play that they just took some furniture from our Calico Critters set. I also found this unfinished wooden dollhouse furniture which would be fun to paint.
