Glitter Pine Cones

December 2, 2012 by Meredith @ Homegrown Friends

As a mom to a four year old and twin 22 month olds I am always racking my brain for art activities that will span their developmental ages and not completely destroy my house in the process. I am thankful everyday for the creation of washable paints, crayons and markers. Today we are making Glitter Pine Cones. It is a simple craft that will span many age groups and add a little sparkle to your holiday decor.

HOW TO MAKE GLITTER PINE CONES

Begin by mixing together equal parts tempera paint and white glue (this will help the glitter stick better). We had three containers of red, pink and blue. Paint the pine cones.

While the paint mixture is still wet shake the glitter on. Personally, I think you can never have enough glitter. Who has ever frowned when looking at glitter? Well, sure it looks like my daughter is frowning, but she is just staring with extreme concentration.

adding glitter to the glitter pine conesThat’s it! Simple, fun and pretty! My son who frequently creates fantasy worlds that inspire me decided our pine cones each needed a name. Please give a warm welcome to the newest members of our family.

love the names the child named the glitter pine cones
I plan on using these as place cards for our Christmas Eve dinner. I think they will add a sense of whimsy. May your house be filled with your own sparkly pine cones named Fancy Dinner Table Cloth! Too funny! I love kids!
