You know the moment when you are pouring the paint remnants into the sink and they look so gorgeous? I’ve been known to Instagram a few of those accidental works of art. Yesterday we decided to channel the way the colors mix and swirl together by creating some Splatter Pour Painting on large canvases. The kids had a blast!
WHAT YOU NEED FOR SPLATTER POUR PAINTING
HOW TO MAKE THE SPLATTER POUR PAINTING
Get ready for some messy fun! This is definitely an outside project. We like to use our driveway for messy art because paint will simply wash off with a good rainstorm or the hose. Set up one canvas per child. Add a small amount of water to each cup and then mix in a variety of paint colors until combined completely. We used 12 cups of paint for 3 children, but they were having so much fun we easily could have used more.
Now it is all up to the kids. I encouraged the children to hold one cup at a time and throw the paint towards the canvas so that it would splatter rather than just slowly pouring the paint on top of the canvas. The results were amazing.
Honestly my children probably would have kept doing this for an hour but they ran out of paint. The canvases will be very wet so carefully put them in a place to dry over night. Check out the amazing results!
