Press Here Movement Game

September 8, 2014 by Meredith @ Homegrown Friends

Press Here by Herve Tullet is one of those books that upon reading you will immediately be entranced by the creativity. The interactive nature of the book reminds me of Ed Emberley’s Go Away, Big Green Monster. Each page requires the read to complete an act, turn the page and see when happens. We have read this book so many times and yet I think my children truly believe their actions are controlling the book. And this is the magic of childhood. Today for Preschool Book Club we are getting our bodies off the couch from our snuggly reading spot to play the Press Here Movement Game inspired by this fantastic book!

HOW TO MAKE THE PRESS HERE MOVEMENT GAME

Prior to introducing the game cut large and small circles out of red, yellow and blue construction paper. My circles were about 4 inches and 8 inches in diameter. Because I wanted the circles to be durable I laminated them.

After reading Press Here I scattered the paper circles all over our front lawn. Just like the book begins with the yellow dot I had my children each begin the game by standing on a yellow circle.

Next I gave the children different directions they had to follow. This is a great way to combine listening skills and gross motor development. Here are some examples. Feel free to use as a starting point.

Jump to a red circle.

Move slowly to a blue circle.
