My husband and I have not gone on a kid-free vacation since our honeymoon which was almost 8 years ago. Now that our children are 5, 3 and 3 we are finally feeling ready to leave them in the loving hands of their grandparents and go have a fun kid-free weekend! While my children are very excited they are also a little nervous about their first weekend away from their parents. My Goodbye Gifts for Kids are perfect for easing anxiety while parents are away.
HOW TO CREATE GOODBYE GIFTS FOR KIDS
For each day you will be away wrap a present and label it with your child’s name and the corresponding day. When your child wakes up each morning a fun surprise awaits keeping the time away from you fun and special.
WHAT TO PURCHASE AS GOODBYE GIFTS FOR KIDS
I had so much fun secretly buying presents for my children over the past few months. When buying gifts I kept two things in mind. I wanted the gifts to be items my children have wished for over the past few months, and I wanted the gifts to be items that would help give my parents little breaks during the day (3 kids can be tiring!).

DAY 1 GIFTS
Quinn (age 5)- I wanted a project that would keep him busy through the weekend. This amazing LEGO Treehouse Set seemed absolutely perfect! I am so excited for him to open it!
Luca (age 3) and Charlotte (age 3)- One of the toys my daughters have had on their wish list are the Calico Critters babies. We have the families, but only one baby. Anyone who has ever hung out with three year olds knows that 1 toy between 2 kids is tricky business. I purchased each of my girls a set of Calico Critters triplets. Perfect for our homemade dollhouse!
DAY 2 GIFTS
Quinn, Luca and Charlotte- For the second day I decided to get them each some new fun art supplies. Long ago our smelly markers went dry and I though they would be a fun, inexpensive addition to the weekend. We are all about homemade playdough, but my kids are also huge fans of store bought Model Magic. I found small packages for each child with multiple colors. Both of these gifts are perfect early morning activities (maybe my Mom and Dad will get to enjoy a peaceful cup of coffee?) and for late afternoon crankiness.
DAY 3 GIFTS
The homestretch! On the third day we will be returning in the late afternoon. My kids go crazy for the Melissa and Doug Water Wow Coloring Books. They are incredibly durable and can be used over and over again. I knew they would be excited to have new ones! The link is for the vehicle one my daughter Charlotte has, but there are a lot of other themes to choose from.
I am so excited for my kids to open their special presents and admittedly my husband and I are counting down the days for some kid-free fun!
