Homemade Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients
  • 4 C sifted all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 C sugar
  • ¾ C butter
  • 1½ C buttermilk (can sub milk plus 1 tsp apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 C raisins
Instructions
  1. Mix together flour, baking soda, salt and sugar.
  2. Cut butter into small pieces.
  3. Add butter to flour mixture and combine until mixture resembles course crumbs.
  4. Mix milk and raisins until just combined.
  5. Knead for 1 minute.
  6. Split dough in half and form two loaves.
  7. Place on a greased cookie sheet.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35-40 or until golden brown. Let cool.
  9. Cut into slices and enjoy!
